Kathy’s Place

Confluence Volunteer day 052

Kathy’s Place  is one of Franklinton Gardens’ newest sites. In 2013, this site was used to grow raspberries, Swiss chard, carrots, beets as well as several varieties of potatoes. We used a very basic row crop growing technique at this site.

Our rows were sheet mulched with cardboard and wood chips. The cardboard and wood chips helped suppress weeds like thistle and bindweed. Organic matter was then added to help feed the plants and break down the mulch.
